There are ALWAYS 2 sides to EVERY story !

I have always been taught, "you can only believe 1/2 of what you read". Perhaps as this article suggests, we should believe only 20% of blogsRead More... http://www.bwebcentral.com/blog/2/591

FYI: There are ALWAYS 2 sides to EVERY story !

Unless your living in a hole, don't own a computer, and have never visited the web (in witch case why are you reading this?). You will know that blogging is everywhere on the web.

Some guy one day, some time thought Hey !, I'm going to write a journal online, and people said "who's going to want to read that !", and BOOM! everyone stared doing it, well yes, things like RSS helped too :-)

So today, almost everyone is an "online journalist", writing about things they care about, things that interest them, their pet peeves, things they hate, EVERYTHING you can imagine.

And I'm not being trying to be a hippocrite here, I'm on the bandwagon too. When we are confronted with SO much information it can very easily overload us and become mangled and confused.

One of the biggest lessons I can try to impart from our 'new age techno blogging blah' is "There are 2 sides to every story"

It has been my experiance the most popular articles only tell one side of the story, which tends to 'agree' with the opinion of the blog entry author. While this info can be both insightfull and interesting, I believe it is important to remember that "reality" is not always how it is written on paper (or in this case typed on a computer).

Whether intentional or not, we all apply our own "filters" based on our mood, opinions, and thoughts. I am reminded of Dorothy's emerald colored glasses. So while you are reading a blog (example) of how horrible one service or anohter is, remember that if the blog author is relating his/her own personal experiance, it will contain his/her own interpretation of events. I suggest it may not respresent a full view of the story.

True 'journalists' (if I understand correctly) attempt to apply an impartial objective view of a situation..or at the very least attempt to gather facts from both sides of the story to report information. To be fair I have seen a lot of one-sided "true journalist" stories as well, but there is usually some disclaimer such as "We contacted company [x] who refused to comment on the matter in question"

Please don't mis-understand me as I am not suggesting we ignore the "ranting" of others about how they were treated unfairly or had an otherwise unplesent customer service experiance. Rather it appears in our present digital life, there is some responsibilty on the reader/listener to further investigate claims before completely making up our mind.

I am a big believer that if you have a story to tell, and you are not satisified please share it so others can be informed. The biggest changes in our history often come from the voice of a few or the one that snowballs into support of the many and propels change.

Virus spread Skype for Windows Users W32.Pykspa.D

Normally, I don't send out about virus notices, but I found this one particularily interesting so I thought I'd write about it.

A good computing practice is to never open an executable file (ie: files that end in .exe, .com, .scr, .dll, .mdb, .vbs (and others). This is true EVEN for files from people you know and trust, since if there system may be attacked, or there name may be spoofed, and the message might not come from whwere you think !

If you receive a file of this type, and really need to open it, always use a good anti virus program first.

Anyway, what prompted me to write this little tidbid was a recent article I heard regarding a virus name "w32/Ramex.A" aka (W32/Skipi.A and, W32.Pykspa.D)

Just like many other viri, this one spreads by sending you a link to downloads the exectable file. However, instead of traditional email to spread, it is using skype instant messaging, and uses prases that appear to come form trusted sources like "haha lol", or "I used photoshop and edited it". So you may be dumped into following the link and downloading the exectable.

So just a warning, it doesn't matter if it's email, instant messaging, or any other form of internet communication, get a good virus scanner, and don't run executable files !

Watch out !
