Goal Setting Tips

By setting and attaining goals one can achieve more happiness and confidence in their life.

1) Start with small and easy to accomplish goals, E.g.: I will smile at least once today, I will compliment myself at least once.

2) Do not make a list of too many goals. Do not set a second goal until you are satisfied with your work on the first.

3) Choose goals which you can be proud of once accomplished. Remember the reward of happiness and confidence awaits you at the end.

4) Try not to concentrate on the "entire picture" of the goal. Take things day by day. For example, if your goal is to finish problem 8 in math. Don't worry about problems 9-10,000 or problems 1-7.

5) Keep a list of goals and accomplishments. This list can be your own secret and is useful to review on days when you are down and need a confidence boost.

6) Break large goals which seem "too hard" or impossible into smaller, more manageable ones. Concentrate on only one small goal at a time and be proud of what you are doing now rather then worrying about what you need to do

7) As you complete a goal, compliment yourself and think about what goal you would like to try next.

8) Some goals are never entirely completed. Phrase your goals positively. i.e.: I will do some cleaning today. Not -> "I think I might " or "I should" clean everything today.

9) Decide why you set a goal and what you hope to accomplish by it. Try to avoid "shoulds" and "musts". A goal brings happiness only if you let it.
